Memucan Hunt Howard Sells Land to Sam Houston

This document chronicles how Memucan sells land to Sam Houston. It describes the nature of the land being sold to Sam Houston as well as provide details as to the pricing of the deal which involved one sixth of 640 acres of land in Arkansas territory.
We used this document in the biography to keep tabs on Memucan’s business affairs, including the use of an attorney, James K. Polk in order to make the affair. Additionally, we used these documents to analyze what Memucan did with the vast amount of land he acquired through being a surveyor, as supported by the numerous land grants between the long range between 1820 and 1836.
