Follow-up Letter Written by Howard Detailing More of his Surveying Work in Tennessee
May 8th, 1885
This letter is a followup to the original “Recollections of Tennessee” that was requested by James D. Porter. This letter was written two years later and sent to the Historical Society of Nashville directly instead of Porter. Howard documented more of his land surveying experiences in western Tennessee. The letter was written while Howard was living in New York City.
We used this document to track and pinpoint Howard’s places of residence and land surveying experience.
