This document includes the tax list records for Memucan Hunt Howard in the year of 1836,the year of Howard’s retirement from surveying. We used this document in the biography to cite the fact that Memucan Hunt Howard owned 500 acres in Carroll County, Tennessee, which was valued at $750. It can be inferred then that Memucan Hunt Howard owned a substantial portion of Tennessee. With the acreage owned in Fayette, Lauderdale and Hardeman, along with this newfound ownership of Carroll land, Howard had surveyed the majority of the Western District.
